We love to get dressed up for a date night and recently we headed into Durham for some delicious food and drinks. There are so many new bars and restaurants popping up in Durham that we’re spoilt for choice but we chose to try the new Cosy Club. After a beautiful walk along the river we arrived and headed into the Cosy Club where we sat down for a drink before our meal. Cosy Club is one of the more unusually styled bars or restaurants I’ve been in but I loved the uniqueness. The bar is filled with squashy sofas and low tables for maximum cosy vibes and the walls are covered in all sorts of artwork that looks like it came straight out of a stately home. There’s also a terrace overlooking with views of the river, Durham Castle and the Cathedral which would be lovely in nice weather. We were then taken to our table and ordered camembert with bread and chutney to share for starters. As soon as we saw this on the menu we knew we’d be ordering it as we love any melty cheese situation, and it didn’t disappoint. We then chose our main courses which was really hard as the whole menu sounds amazing. After umming and ahhing for ages, I’m always the person who needs an extra couple of minutes to decide when the waiter comes over, I decided on steak and chips. I wasn’t sure if I’d made the right choice and the most boring thing off the menu but my steak was perfectly cooked to how I liked it with delicious peppercorn sauce and chunky chips on the side. Andrew went for the Golden Dame burger which looked so impressive and was equally tasty.
Sadly, I didn’t have enough room for pudding, although they looked amazing, so we left and headed for Revolution, where the upstairs terrace has been our favourite place for cocktails in the city since it opened last year.
I’ll be going back to Cosy Club to try more of their menu but there’s so many new places in Durham, with many more opening soon, that I’ve got a really long list of places I want to try but I’m really excited that Durham is becoming a fab destination for a night out.
