Date Night with a Difference

My boyfriend and I always try to make an effort to do date night every so often and even though we’ve been together a while now we always want to have fun dates together and make lots of memories. While getting dressed up for a night out, having a meal and a few drinks will always be my favourite sort of date night its fun, and sometimes cheaper and easier, to do something different. Here are a few of our alternative date night ideas.

Home Cinema Night IMG_5472

Rather than paying loads for a cinema ticket, and even more for popcorn, and then watching the film with your partner on one side and a stranger on the other, why not create a cinema night at home? Get in some yummy food (I made a big bowl of nachos, barbeque ribs and curly fries, and mini doughnuts with chocolate sauce) some drinks and pick a film or two, either an old favourite or something new, turn off the lights and cosy up!

Fish and Chips at the Coast

We live about an hour away from an amazing coastline but one of my favourite things to do is drive over for some fish and chips and a walk along the beach. Even when the weather isn’t the best I love to wrap up and watch the surfers on the waves. It’s a different way to spend date night and doesn’t cost as much as a fancy restaurant or bar.

Christmas Markets

This is a must do night at this time of year. We’re really lucky as Newcastle is gorgeous at Christmas and, although the Christmas markets are fairly small compared to some places, they have some really good food and craft stalls. We also went to see the display in Fenwick’s windows, which has been a Christmas tradition ever since I’ve been small, and I loved the Paddington bear theme this year. Newcastle also has Hadrian’s Tipi open in the run up to Christmas; literally a tipi built in the middle of the city which has a bar and loads of street food stalls where we ate crispy duck chips and drank hot chocolate and cider. It was a really cool, and delicious, alternative date night.

Get Adventurous

My boyfriend and I both like to be active so an hour or two spent at a trampoline park or rock climbing is the perfect date for us. My boyfriend is always amazingly good at anything adventurous like this and, while I love to try things, we usually have a good laugh when I fail. Also, it’s exercise without really thinking about it!

Let me know if you have any more different date night ideas, I’d love to try more!
